Profiles of Practitioners and Therapists

 

Houri Alavi Lic.Ac., BA, M.B.Ac.C

Houri worked as a teacher in special needs support from 1992, before re-training as an acupuncturist.  She has been interested in fertility issues for many years having undertaken additional training in acupuncture and fertility.  Since qualifying Houri has worked consistently with fertility, pregnancy, breech and induction treatments.  She lives in Brighton with her family.

Elaine Gibbons Adv.Lic.Ac., M.B.Ac.C.

Elaine has been practising acupuncture since 1993.  She has always worked with a particular interest in pregnancy, gynaecology and childbirth, having attended many labours, and more recently with fertility issues.  She has been teaching childbirth classes since 1997. 

She is inspired and motivated to treat with acupuncture following much successful research that has been undertaken.  She lives in Brighton with her husband and three children.

Training and Professional Memberships

Houri and Elaine are members of the British Acupuncture Council (BAcC) and trained at the College of Traditional Acupuncture, Leamington Spa. They were co-ordinators for the BAcC Regional Group from 2002-2005.  They keep their information in the fertility and pregnancy field as up to date as possible in this rapidly changing area.

They have both undertaken extra acupuncture training in the fertility field and confidently and frequently integrate acupuncture with Western fertility treatments.

Peta has been a practising reflexologist since 1995 and in 2000 qualified as a Scaravelli inspired Yoga Teacher. Peta has a background in mental health and has worked in a variety of settings for the past 30 years using relaxation techniques, reflexology and yoga to enable release of anxiety and stress and to help combat depression.

Kelly Horne

Kelly qualified as a massage therapist in 1999. She also gained a diploma in Indian Head Massage and Aromatherapy. She has worked within adult education for the past 4 years teaching relaxation massage workshops, basic aromatherapy and Indian Head Massage and is a tutor at College of Classical Massage in Brighton.

Julie Cleasby BSc(Hons), RN (Child Health), RHV, D.C.Hyp, HypnoBirthing Educator, MSCHA

Julie is also a Clinical Hypnotherapist, Registered Nurse, Specialising in Child Health and a registered Health Visitor. She has worked with women and their families for over a decade and until recently worked part time as a Nurse Specialist in East Sussex. She has a wealth of experience with women in the antenatal and postnatal periods, a variety of experience in child health issues.

Julie is also a HypnoBirthing Practitioner and has undertaken Advanced Certificate in Fertility Through Hypnosis. Julie has a particular interest in supporting women and their partners on their journey through fertility and natural childbirth.

Helen Santander ND & Dip Herb

Helen is a Naturopath and Herbalist. She trained at The College of Naturopathic Medicine, London. Helen is a member of the Unified Register of Herbal Practitioners. She is also a registered nurse. Her background is in Emergency Nursing which she worked in for 8 years.

Helen has a special interest in fertility issues relating to both women and men.

She lives in Brighton with her family.
