Naturopathy/Herbal Medicine and Fertility
Helen Santander ND, Dip Herb, Member of URHPEach person/couple has a unique set of circumstances that can lead to problems in fertility. This therapy can increase and enhance your chances of a natural conception, ease the problems associated with pregnancy and treat any post natal issues that may arise. This is achieved by establishing and understanding the underlying reason for disorders.
Through the use of herbs, dietary supplements and lifestyle changes these imbalances can be dealt with effectively and naturally, allowing your body to function at its optimum level.
There are many reasons why people seek help in achieving natural fertility. Here are just a few…
Ovulation
Lack of ovulation or irregular ovulation can lead to difficulty conceiving. Herbs are able to normalise the hormones involved in a woman’s cycle. They can restore ovarian function and regulate an erratic cycle as well as treat associated problems which indicate imbalances in the body such as Pre Menstrual Symptoms.
Male Fertility
Sperm production and health can be increased with Herbal Medicine allowing better chances for conception and maintaining a healthy pregnancy.
Miscarriage
The underlying cause for miscarriage must be sought and treated accordingly. Through supporting, treating and nourishing the body and mind of both parents in the time before conception you will be giving yourself a better chance for a healthy pregnancy.
Stress
Stress can be a major factor in fertility. It can be part of the underlying cause, or can become an issue as other fertility problems are identified. Herbs, supplements and lifestyle can have a hugely beneficial effect on reducing stress and its side effects.
Nutrition
Good nutrition can increase your chances of fertility and decrease your chances of miscarriage. It can also increase your babies weight and reduce the risk of ill health later in life for your child.
Good nutrition is achieved by eating a healthy balanced diet and is assisted by dietary supplements where necessary. Nutrition advice will vary from person to person depending on their individual needs. Herbal Medicines also provide vital vitamins and minerals.
Herbal Medicine
In my practice I bring together a combination of different Herbal systems to give a more holistic approach. This includes Western Herbal Medicine, Traditional Chinese Medicine, and Ayurvedic Medicine. By using different models of health I can combine different diagnostic understanding and use a varied range of herbs.
